It was dead silent through most of city, much to be expected at three in morning. The night tonight was particularly darker then usual and the shadows cast over most of the area from the buildings, made the atmosphere that much darker - stars could only be seen few and far between. It wasn't necessarily unusual to wander the streets at all odd hours of the night, some odd people did it all the time but the greater thing was what would happen when you had no where to go in middle of the city nights? You had no place to stay, to sleep and rest up, or better yet you had the money to choose something of the like but it didn't seem right to go rent a motel for the night? It was more fulfilling to force yourself awake and be on your guard for those you may very well attack you what with freaks in night thing going on.
Alice sat on a wooden bench near the public library in the more downtown area. A small plot of green grass and a few shade trees attempted to make the area just outside of the public service building a little more inviting and quaint. It was probably the safest place outside at this time, so close to all other public services as well. such as the one's that dealt with criminals or hazards such as house fires. However, this didn't comfort the young woman as much as it would most people. Her breath came out in a huff, forming a cloud of cooled air to burst from her lips and rise. The temperature was just cold enough to send a shiver through her spine and shake her weakened frame momentarily. Her unusually bright magenta toned eyes had dark circles etched under them, they looked almost permanent. Her hair was a mess, well, as much of a mess as she'd ever dare let it. It frizzed up some without her headband to hold it all in place and it had that brittle feel, like it needed conditioner. She was so whipped out that she could barely stay coherent and stop herself from slumping over. She'd been chasing down a pull at her heart, running mad through this particular city without any known destination in mind. It happened to her often, it wasn't new, that she'd feel restless and end up looking for something but never in her life did she know what she was looking for until much after she already found it. So far, she'd been up for four days and four nights straight, including tonight. The last thread of her strength was bound to waste away any second, if any was even left.
It was when Alice began to give up the fight with her heavy eyelids that someone literally seemed to appear out of no where. A man in a long trench coat lined with blood colored hearts at its rim, black and red tipped hair, bunny ears and red eyes was sitting in the empty space on the bench next to her. Her eyes widened for just a second in shock, but fell half shut once again when his white fanged smile gleamed. He stood up, his frightening colored eyes appraising her. He slid off the coat he wore, sitting back down quickly once it was off. The cold weather and odd darkness didn't seem to bother him. Without any thought to go along with the action, he wrapped one arm around Alice and pulled her down so that her head was resting in his lap, she complied without any fight and tucked her legs up onto the bench as well now that she was lying down. The man draped his coat over her, covering everything but her face and providing her with warmth. Once that was done, he began to brush her cheek softly with the back of his fingers repetitively. "You had us all so worried." he said quietly as he stared down at her. Alice allowed herself to shut her eyes this time, now that she was protected and being soothed to sleep. The light touch lulled her closer and closer to dreamland. "Renoshi couldn't come, the other two having to deal with something else. You've been gone longer then you said, breaking your promise..." he shook his head a little. "Go to sleep, Alice, you need to rest now." It that was enough, she'd been comforted into sleep already.
Some odd hours later, the sun began to rise up in the sky. It was seven or so in the morning, maybe a little closer to eight, roughly four hours since the Ixi drifted to sleep. She stirred now, slowly waking. Her eyelids pulled back unwillingly and it took a few moments for the morning haze to clear and allow her vision. She realized where she was instantly after the sleep cloud lifted, and she smiled faintly. Her pillow in the form of the dark man was gone. She sat up slowly, clutching the fabric around her. It wasn't the trench coat she used for warmth, but now was a blanket made of a soft fabric. One hand moved to touch the back of the bench, where his back would have been touching it but she wouldn't have been what with lying down, and it was still warm. He only left a few seconds before she awoke. She pressed her fingers gingerly under her eyes, the dark circles were gone. Her hair was no longer brittle but felt soft and shined. As for her energy, even though she'd only gotten a few hours of sleep for the last several days, she felt perfectly fine. Her friend had apparently cast something upon her to rejuvenate her. She'd have to thank him later. But Alice didn't expect much less from one of her best friends. They all promised to do everything they could to protect her, no matter how silly it seemed to her. She didn't really need so much protection, but the three of her companions were worry warts when it came to her health.
She laughed lowly, hardly audible. Now that she was paying attention to other things around her, she was also thankful that Dark had left. The city was waking up, the citizens were beginning to stole along the streets carrying on whatever business they held. A few people shot her strange looks as they walked by from a distance. If her friend, strictly friend, had been seen with her using him as a pillow, people would be likely to assume the wrong. Honestly, she was almost treated like his little sister. But people hardly ever understood that sort of bond. And, when the little bit of sidewalk traffic stopped, she let the blanket loose from her grip. It slipped down her shoulders and to the grassy earth beneath her feet, fading away into nothing as it landed. At least no one else could assume her to be a hobo now as she sat there, staring off blankly. She had to decide what to do with today, waiting for the endless nagging of her senses to kick in and send her off.
Ooc; I doubt Dark will appear, but I thought this up and couldn't let it go. ^.^ I figured it would be a good chance for one to understand a little about Alice and her strange friends from Wonderland. They treat her like a fragile glass doll or something sometimes, with her constantly objecting. So yea...I hope you don't me starting this up and for it being so darn long...
